There are dozens of different ways to discover the gender of your baby. Many expectant moms just get so excited to find out. Perhaps they are just curious and cannot live with that constant nudge of curiosity; other moms are just practical and want to begin getting preparations underway as early as possible. Whichever the case, here are some fun ways to discover whether you will have a baby girl or baby boy.

With all gender tests that have not been scientifically validated, you obviously have a 50% chance that result will be accurate. Hence why many mothers carry out these tests and vouch that the result was correct. However, for truly accurate and scientific tests, you should opt for a test to find the gender of your baby through DNA. These tests are far more accurate (up to 99%) at determining the baby gender. However, you cannot do these tests at home. The tests are done by means of a urine sample or blood sample from the pregnant mamma which must then be sent to a laboratory for analysis.

Cabbage testing: Red or Blue?

The cabbage test is hugely popular amongst expectant moms. For some reason, it has acquired great popularity with whole forums and websites dedicated to it. The cabbage test is quick and cheap to carry out. Here is how.

First and foremost, you need a red cabbage which you must then roughly chop into pieces. You then need to add the cabbage to boiling water and let it stand for a few minutes. You can then separate the cabbage from the water (you can of course, add some olive oil to the cabbage and eat it!). Once the solution has cooled down, you can mix equals parts of it with your urine sample. You will instantly either experience a color change or perhaps the solution will not change color at all. If it does change to a purplish color, then expect a boy. If it remains the same, then it is a girl. Despite its popularity and supposed accuracy, the color change is only due to PH. There is no scientific backing for this test.

Chinese calendar

The Chinese, known for the wisdom and their great dynasties, have their own gender prediction test which is very commonly carried out all over the world. This test is said to be hundreds of years old and supposedly, was found in an ancient tomb. To carry out this test, you need to know your lunar age. There is a whole procedure to carry out lunar age, but luckily many websites actually do the calculation for you. Essentially the test requires the mother’s lunar age at conception and the month of conception. With these two parameters, the Chinese calendar can tell you if you will have a baby girl or baby boy.

The wedding ring test

Supposedly putting a hair through the loop of your wedding ring and allowing it to dangle over your pregnant belly can tell you whether it will be a he or a she. All depends on the motion of the ring:  if the ring swings in circular motions, then you will have a baby boy. If the ring swings from left to right and right to left then it will be a girl.
